Niall McLaughlin Architects

Niall McLaughlin Architects is an architectural firm located in London, England. Niall McLaughlin emphasizes strongly that the inventive use of building materials, the qualities of light and the relationship of a building and its surroundings are important.

As the name implies, the company is run by Niall McLaughlin, who established the architect firm in 1990. Since then, they have grown to employ 24 people including two associates who joined Niall in developing the practice.

Niall McLaughlin is now appointed the Professor of Architectural Practice at the Bartlett School of Architecture, UCL, for the year of 2015-2016, having taught in the school for 25 years, it is an honour for him to be appointed to this important position, as he is the most admired Professor with his influential designs and great tutoring.


niall (1)In 1998 Niall McLaughlin was selected as the UK Young Architect of the Year, an honorary achievement, and only one of many awards that was given to him for his great architectural mind and inventions/creations. His designs have won many awards in the UK, Ireland and also the United States.

The latest award was the RIAI (Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland) Best Health & Leisure Project Award: Alzheimer’s Respite Centre, in 2010.

Although being shortlisted twice for the prestigious RIBA Stirling Prize in 2013, and 2015, he however has yet to claim this achievement.
